Online Organ Donations
West Virginians can now go online to sign up as organ donors at https://donatelife.wv.gov.

Previously, residents could only sign up at a state Division of Motor Vehicles office.

Anyone can add the designation by entering their driver's license-photo ID number, date of birth and the last four digits of the Social Security number.

DMV Commissioner Joseph Cicchirillo says only 37 percent of registered drivers in the state are now signed up as organ donors. He says 200 West Virginians currently await a life-saving organ transplant.

The web site is a partnership of the DMV, the Center for Organ Recovery and Education, Lifeline of Ohio and Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates.
