Four Receive Nursing Scholarships
Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital awarded two women in the field of nursing and two nursing students with scholarships totaling $4,000. The Camden-Clark Foundation awarded Deanna Lynn Boothe of Washington, W.Va. and Tessa Holbert of Mineral Wells, W.Va. the Mary Jo Gilliand Nursing Scholarship and Kayla Black of Vienna, W.Va. and Jessica Knox of Washington, W.Va. the Ella Bloomheart Nursing Scholarship.

Boothe, Holbert, Black and Knox and were honored at the Camden-Clark Memorial Nursing Alumnae Banquet on Saturday May, 3.

The Mary Jo Gilliand Nursing Scholarship was established to help current nurses that wanted to continue their education. The scholarship award is $1,000 and paid directly to the school the nurse is attending. Each year two scholarships are given. Three letters of recommendation, a personal essay and an application are required to apply for the scholarship.

Holbert attends West Virginia University of Parkersburg (WVU-P) and is majoring in nursing. She has a cumulative grade point average of 3.32. She expects to receive bachelor’s degree in nursing.

Boothe attends WVU-P and is majoring in nursing. She expects to receive a master’s degree in nursing. Boothe has achieved a 3.28 grade point average.

The Ella Bloomheart Nursing Scholarship was established to help current nursing students by offsetting the price of nursing school. The scholarship award is $1,000 and paid directly to the school the nursing student is attending. Each year two scholarships are given.

Knox, graduate of Parkersburg South High School, attends Glenville State College. Knox completed her sophomore year. She expects to graduate in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in nursing.
Black, graduate of Parkersburg High School, attends West Virginia University. Black completed her sophomore year. She expects to graduate in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in nursing.
